Inside the Teays Valley Christian School gymnasium, four sets of new aluminum bleachers sit behind the baskets — two on each end of the court. The additional seating was a necessary purchase because of the increasing crowds coming to see the school’s fledgling basketball program.
There are literal signs of growth, too. Under the scoreboard hangs signage for local businesses. There are also purchased ad signs on the walls behind the benches and media table, more than triple than last season.
Basketball has never garnered as much attention at the school, which opened in 1984 and is home to approximately 300 students.
This is part of the vision shared by the Teays Valley superintendent Jack Davis, principal Jody Sowards and first-year coach Ryan Arrowood.
