Brandon Porter takes community service pledge

Brandon Porter today joined the ranks of young professionals with Putnam Rotary who pledge personal service to make their community a better place to live.

"You now join 1.2 million other Rotarians in 34,000 clubs around the world," said George Six as he welcomed Porter into active membership.

An account manager for business Services with Appalachian Power, Porter holds a degree in electrical engineering from WVU Institute of Technology and a Masters in engineering management from Marshall University.

He and his spouse, the former Shelley Watkins, make their home in Scott Depot.

They recently crossed off three more states in a quest to visit all fifty. "We went for a little rest and relaxation in Nebraska and Iowa," Porter says. "We then did an impromptu trip down to Kansas to watch the Mountaineers."

In his leisure hours , Porter enjoys woodworking and hunting.
