Michel Moffatt receives Rotarian PHF honor

June 9, 2015

Del. Michel G. Moffatt (R-22nd Delegate District) took his place today among 700,000 Paul Harris Fellows who support the Rotary Foundation with a donation of $1,000 or more.

Putnam Rotary since 1995 has recognized 40 people in the club and through the club with the PHF honor. Several Rotarians are multiple donors to the Foundation representing among them gifts of more than $72,000.

Dianna Casto, Putnam's Chairperson for the Foundation, said that Moffatt now joins the distinguished legion of Paul Harris Fellows which include Mother Teresa, Pearl Bailey, President Jimmy Carter, Russian President Boris Yeltsin, Astronaut James Lovell, UN Secretary General Javier Pérez de Cuéllar, Dr. Jonas Salk.

"And, not least," she added, naming herself in a personal exclamation of pride, "is Putnam's own Dianna K. Casto."

The local club includes a number of "sustaining" members who make regular contributions to the Foundation. Fifty dollars contributed each year by a local Rotarian is matched by the club.

The new Paul Harris Fellow has been an active Rotarian since his induction into the Putnam club early in 2014. Now a club director, he is supervising the group's 6th Pancake Breakfast at the Liberty Square Applebee's next Saturday, June 13th. Funds raised will go toward the International Rotary campaign to eradicate polio.

Del. Moffatt is at home in Hurricane with spouse Amy and their two children.
