TO: Steve Patrick, Putnam Rotary President
I wanted to let you know that our Interact Club has been busy this fall. . . .
In late October/early November, the club had a coat drive for local Putnam County residents. Final tally of coats collected: 43!
Unfortunately, many students had conflicts on the Livingstone home project but President Mandee Young and I were able to add our efforts to the Rotary as we learned how to finish drywall.
Mandee did an excellent job of organizing the members' favorite project at Christmastime, providing a Christmas party for the children at the YWCA Sojourner in Charleston. She made sure that everyone participated by donating craft supplies, baking cookies or attending the party. An additional project involved the student donation of 22 towels and washcloths along with two large boxes of soaps and shampoo. It is our intent to attend a few of the Rotary lunches this spring, once school gets underway. . . .
Fred Whaples accompanied the Interact Club members to Sojourners. His granddaughter is in the pictures. Fred had a great time as well. . . .
I had an enjoyable time at the pancake breakfast and Mandee mentioned that she enjoyed meeting everyone as well.
Mandee Young, our club president, has been busy applying for college scholarships (she has
awesome academics and financial need) and has been awarded a Comcast Leaders and Achievers
Scholarship. They required further information on her community activities/Interact.. . . . .
My teaching schedule will change after Jan 20, and I will be able to bring students to attend the Tuesday luncheons.. . .
