Senior recognition

Poca High School held an awards assembly today, and among students recognized were the graduating charter members of the new Poca Interact Club. Interact president is 'Miss Poca High'

Molly Ballard, president of the new Poca Interact Club has been elected "Miss Poca High," according to club sponsor Valerie Helmstetter.

A rising senior at Poca, Molly has represented West Virginia as a Hugh O'Brian Ambassador at the World Leadership Conference in Chicago last year year.

Her brother, Mason, now a freshman at Davidson College, was a HOBY Ambassador in 2009.

Miss Molly has led the Interactors in several community service activities, including holiday celebrations at the Sojourners Shelter in Charleston.

The club assisted with Putnam Rotary this spring in the construction of a Habitat House and in the 2012 5K Run/Walk.

More recently, Molly was a keynote speaker at the Rotary District Conference this spring at the Greenbrier Resort.

Molly is the daughter of Melissa Ballard and Rotarian Gary Ballard of Liberty.
