24/7 Club
Hurricane 24/7 members rally for the summer.

June 3, 2010

HURRICANE -- As the school year comes to a close, the Hurricane High 24/7 Club is setting its plans for the year ahead.

Sponsor Heather Reed will be joining the faculty at Poca High School, and the Hurricane group will have two sponsors -- Kelli Allen and Ms. Seccuro.

Sponsor Reed reports, "We elected new officers today and added a new office that we are calling the Rotary Liaison. It will be held by Ms Meredith Gillespie and she will be responsible for communicating with you. She will also keep you informed of the HHS 24-7 activities as well as keeping 24-7 informed of Rotary activities and opportunities for the students.

"Because this club has now grown to three high schools (possibly 4) and one middle school we are considering creating a charter.

"I have been researching how to do this online and I am coming up with very little useful information. Needless to say I need some help getting started on this project. If any of the Rotarians know how to do this or where I should start, I would really appreciate the information."

Never one to take time off from her work with students, Reed plans to spend some time this summer getting firm commitments from some businesses.

Schools were closed for snow and ice on the day last February when Heather and one of her 24/7 members were scheduled tp visit Rotary. The teacher and student gave up their "day off" to keep the appointment.
