Putnam Rotarian named 'Paul Harris Fellow'

March 23, 2010

In 2004, Glen and Cynthia Gibbs moved to Nitro from San Diego. He had retired from a career representing a Pacific rim technology company, and they were looking for community and quality living.

While on occasion Gibbs undertakes special missions for his former employer, he has turned his attentions to constructive use of free time and service to others.

Putnam Rotary provided an ideal outlet, and Glen lent a hand to activities and projects before he took a formal "pledge to service" last fall.

A week after induction, he presented the club with a speakers podium turned out in his home woodworking shop and loaded with multiple accessories.

Gibbs today became a "Paul Harris Fellow," a special recognition of the Rotary International Foundation for contributions of $1,000 or more.

Gibbs was presented with the official Paul Harris medallion, lapel pin and certificate by District Governor Elect Mary E. Keely during the weekly luncheon meeting.
