Putnam Rotarians completed their dictionary project with a distribution of Webster's New Basic Thesaurus to sixth graders at Winfield Middle School today.

This is the third year the local club has participated in the national Dictionary Project which gave out more than 2.4 million books last year.

Students at Hurricane, Poca and George Washington Middle Schools received personal copies of the new books last week.

Personal dictionaries were already available to Putnam students, and the Rotarians gave out thesaurus copies as an alternative.

Tom Midkiff and Marilyn Pemberton assisted in delivery and distribution of the books at Winfield.

Midkiff, an agent for State Farm Insurance, lives in Frazier's Bottom. Pemberton is retired from Black Diamond Council of the Girl Scouts and lives in Winfield.
