Hurricane High Interact Club
begins 'Heifer' international project

September 22, 2003

Randy Lucas, Tom Midkiff, and Bob Sansom attended the Hurricane High School Interact Club meeting on Monday September 22nd.

There were approximately 16 students in attendance as prospective Interact club members.

The officers for the school year have been chosen, and a couple of "projects" have already been discussed.

The main "PROJECT" is an international project thru to raise $5,000 to purchase an "ark" that would provide a pair of farm animals to several needy families in third world countries.

As a fund-raiser for that a bake sale was held on thursday 09-25 (more later?).

Also another fund raiser is a "fasting" day - going 30 hours without food to raise awareness of world wide hunger (kids get pledges for how many hours thay go without food) (this project is of course closely supervised and each hour some slight nourishment and drinks are allowed)!

We also mentioned to the club that we would like to invite them (at least the officers) to our "For this we give Thanks" meeting in Nov.
